Matt Carpenter is an attorney at Illinois Advocates. Matt joined Illinois Advocates in 2016 and primarily focuses on labor law and employment law.

Following time in private practice, Matt worked as a staff attorney and member representative for a Michigan labor union where he represented the labor organization in contract negotiations, grievance hearings, arbitration hearings and matters before the National Labor Relations Board.  Matt currently represents public- and private-sector unions in these matters as well as hearings before state and local administrative boards. He also advises clients on issues related to internal Union management. 

Matt earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin and his Juris Doctor from the Loyola University School of Law in Chicago where he was managing editor of the Loyola Consumer Law Review. He volunteers as an intake attorney for Cabrini Green Legal Aid.  Matt is a member of the AFL-CIO Lawyer's Coordinating Committee and the American Bar Association.
